These are meant as practice and beginners weapons. They are not meant to replace steel rapiers, but are a pretty good, inexpensive, starting weapon. When it is possible to afford it, a good training blunt should be purchased. There are several people who make steel training rapiers, do a search on the net to find them. I also make custom hilts for commercial steel blades. I can also make a custom hilt to fit a fiberglass blade, but it seems to me one would be better off spending the money on a steel blade.
· Current model does not have a wire wrapped hilt. Instead it has a tennis grip wrapped hilt and a screw on pommel.
